This past Friday, Rose-Marie Swift, founder of rms beauty made a special appearance at The Detox Market to give quick makeup applications with her line of products.
I’ve been eager to add more rms products to my beauty kit since I love their Un Cover-Up, and so this was a great opportunity to see how Rose-Marie herself intended them to be applied. Since almost all of the face products are creams, the entire application was done with the fingertips (except for mascara of course). This is because her products are formulated with raw, food grade, organic ingredients, and the philosophy is that the life force of these nutrients are activated with touch. The products therefore are meant to facilitate health, which beauty ultimately is, as opposed to mainstream cosmetics which lack the ability to promote vitality and true beauty by simply covering up with dead, synthetic ingredients.
Rose Marie’s story is a cautionary tale for anyone who still uses mainstream makeup and personal care products on a regular basis. She is a celebrity makeup artist who began to experience negative health conditions many years ago that affected her holistically. It was discovered that her blood contained toxic levels of heavy metals, pesticides and chemicals from working in the cosmetics industry. She since has rebuilt her health and was inspired to create her own makeup line that did not deprive women of their right to healthy beauty.
It was pleasant to have makeup applied by Rose-Marie. She’s one of those people who is very comfortable to be around as she is very welcoming and knowledgeable about skin care, which she discussed throughout the application. And she’s funny and definitely does not censor her speech. I always respect a person who is honest with how they like to express themselves and anyone who knows me personally knows that I value and appreciate comedy and humor. Her character has made me that much more of an advocate for her products.
I ended up purchasing the living luminizer which is a sheer, glossy, translucent highlighter. She had applied it to my cheekbones and I really liked how it gave me a natural looking glow and didn’t feel like I was wearing anything on my face. Not only that, but I had unconsciously touched my cheeks some time after it was applied and was surprised to feel that my skin was really soft in that area considering I have been suffering from a very chapped and rosaceous face this fall. That confirmed for me that this is a dual purpose product which helps to glamorize and promote healthy skin.
