I admit I’ve never been a fashionable person and I don’t really have an eye for styling.
I always knew, as most do, that a lot of our clothing is made by cheap labour in third world countries. What a lot of people don’t know however, is that synthetic fibres are processed petrochemicals that not only have devastating effects on the environment and garment workers, but are also suspected of causing health issues to consumers. Our skin eats all those chemicals and fast fashion fibres are very commonly finished with formaldehyde. I read all about this in a book called Killer Clothes, authored by two doctors. I highly recommend reading this.
So anyways, I only took an interest in fashion after I decided to find pieces that are safe, sustainable but also look good.
This is one of my latest pieces; the 100% organic cotton Parker sweater by Prana. I purchased mine from Logan & Finley in Toronto, a store that carries lots of organic fashion and eco friendly clothing.
