This past Friday, I had a manicure done at Green Beauty Salon in Toronto, which was well needed since I hadn’t done my nails since April when I discovered BioSeaweed Gel. While I really like the latter since it is long lasting (at least two weeks) and remains shiny and chip-free the whole time, I found myself discouraged at the thought of using the gel because the removal process is so arduous. That, and I don’t have a cool white BioSeaweed Gel, which are always the shades I’m drawn to. I forced myself to try something new with the gels and got a neutral tan and a coral color. I should have known to stick to my old ways.
At Green Beauty, they use RGB for their manicures and I’ve always wanted to see how this brand of polish fares. RGB is ‘5-free’ meaning it does not contain these five harmful chemicals conventionally used in nail polishes; formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, DBP and toluene.
I was hoping to get my nails done in ‘Lavender’, but as luck would have it, this shade wasn’t available, so I chose ‘Moon’ which I quite like. It is an extremely pale almost white, cool pink. It seems like ‘Moon’ is either discontinued or out of stock, so if you want to buy this color and you’re in Toronto, you can get it from Green Beauty.
Now of course, I still really want to try ‘Lavender’, so if I find that this manicure continues to hold up well, I might order that one. And so far, it has. I’m into the third day and only now starting to see the slightest indication of chipping. As a girl who frequently cooks and does dishes, 3-4 days is the average life span of polish for me, unless of course it is a gel.
The only other 5-free polish I’ve tried is Treat Collection. Comparing the performance of Treat to RGB, I would say the latter does not show as many dents like the former did by the third day. BUT I do not have a clear top coat, so I was using the Treat all on its own. I obviously am using a top coat with this RGB polish since I had it done in a salon. I’ve heard that Priti is the best 5-free top coat.
Have you tried any RGB polishes? What are your favorite 5-free brands?
